Overview | Discuss
The AGDA Vic Folio Review is an annual event that connects emerging designers with industry professionals. The challenge was to create a communication design system — including social media, promotional assets, and event materials — that clearly conveys information, encourages participation, and reflects the AGDA brand across digital platforms.
Each event has had a unique brand identity, and the goal was to ensure that it was promoted to engage with both students/emerging designers and industry designers.
Approach | Do
My visual decisions were informed by AGDA's existing brand tone and led to the creation of modular assets adaptable across platforms.
To ensure the event's success, I reached out to industry connections and studios and shared the event details. After coordinating reviewers, I then created assets and worked with the AGDA team to promote the event across social media.
Once the reviewers and the individuals being reviewed were finalised, I carefully reviewed the portfolios submitted. I identified the work styles the reviewers used to establish complementary matchups.
I then emailed the reviewers with details about the individuals they would be reviewing, which allowed them to schedule interviews at their convenience. This approach was similar to the 2022 review, in which I participated as a person being reviewed.

Inspiration for the event identity came from the previous Vic event, which I participated in as an attendee, having my folio reviewed. My approach to the identity came from the exploration of three things: gradient, texture and bold colours.
The reason for this was to create something that stood out in seconds: being the first event I was running as Junior Councillor, I was determined to make it a success.
Outcome | Deliver
The 2023 event resulted in 25 successful review matchups. To ensure the events ran smoothly, I kept in contact with people being reviewed and reviewers, ensuring that all involved would have their questions answered promptly. Feedback was positive, with both reviewers and attendees commenting on the event's value.
The 2024 event was held as an in-person speed-networking event at RMIT, with 30 attendees. Each review was done as a round robin- attendees would have 20 minutes to speak with a reviewer, and they would then move on to another table for another review.
